“Samuel: The Listening Prophet, & An Eavesdropping Nation”

In his book, “The Bible Jesus Read,” Philip Yancey identifies the two main barriers to reading the Old Testament: It doesn’t always make sense, and what sense it does make offends modern ears. For these and other reasons the Old Testament, three-fourths of the Bible, often goes unread.

First & Second Samuel offers us the opportunity to overcome these barriers while studying thru some of the Bible’s most familiar stories. Join us as Pastor Greg helps to develop some principles that help make Old Testament reading enriching, inviting, and a deeper revelation of God that may strengthen our faith in Him as pilgrims along His way.

“Faith is not the clinging to a shrine but an endless pilgrimage of the heart. Audacious longing, burning songs, daring thoughts, an impulse overwhelming the heart, usurping the mind—these are all a drive toward [loving the One] who rings our heart like a bell.”
