“Confident, Righteous, & the Contempt of Others”

Luke 18:9 ¶ He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and regarded others with contempt:

Luke 18:10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.

“To be honest I personally find it easier to multiply regulations that to truly care for people.  The shocking truth is that there is a Pharisee within the skin of each of us seeking to impose its spirit on an unsuspecting world and an undeserving church.

We are not only tempted to follow some Jews of old in recreating a Mishnah of oral interpretations to impose upon our neighbors, but worse yet, some of us seek to put our own theological straightjacket on God.  The Pharisees of every generation are busy creating the God of heaven in their own religious image”
