Rev. 2:9 ¶ “I know your affliction and your poverty, even though you are rich. I know the slander on the part of those who say that they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of satan…”
Affliction, poverty, slandered, and eventually martyred. All of this for one of two churches that receive no rebuke from Jesus. Could it be they heeded the call to remember their first love? Could it be that the persecution from a tyrannical power, and “false believers” is what Jesus uses ignite true Love in the church? What does that mean for a the relatively “safe” and prosperous church of today?
