Mark 1:40 ¶ A leper came to him begging him, and kneeling he said to him, “If you choose, you can make me clean.”
Mark 1:41 Moved with pity, Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, and said to him, “I do choose. Be made clean!”
Mark 1:42 Immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean.
God looked upon leprosy and says this is the one that is a fit symbol for sin. For the person who has it – It desensitizes. We no longer feel pain. We no longer care. It disfigures. We only are ruins of what we were created to be. It cripples us and separates us from everything we care about. Sure sounds like sin, doesn’t it? Always remember tho, The disease is the problem, the disease is the object lesson not those who have it.
Remember in this story, all the believers – all those who consider themselves clean – don’t have enough compassion to bring this poor man to Jesus. No one will touch him, so Jesus, the Son of Man with His “innards, guts,” moving Him with compassion does so, and teaches all of us “clean” folks a tremendous lesson while proclaiming the Gospel at the same time…
