2Cor. 5:21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Psa. 3:3 ¶ But you, O LORD, are a shield around me, my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.
The shield in this Psalm, written by David, is often referred to as a spiritual and temporal shield. David wrote it as he was being chased by his own son, a temporal threat. Is that what this shield is? A temporal shield for believers protecting us from suffering, injury, poverty, even death? Or do we need our head lifted to what the shield really is, and really protects us from?
